I signed up for MomsMeet.com which is an awesome community of parents and caregivers that collaborate on information to help guide you and your family to a healthy better for you lifestyle. In this community, you can sign up to become either a mom ambassador or a blog ambassador. The mom ambassadors are women or moms that have a moms group where you will be able to share some great goodies with your group. The Blog ambassadors need to have a blog already set-up and make sure you know how to track your visitor usage before applying because they asked a million questions about how many visitors, followers, likes, etc. After becoming approved as either a mom or blog ambassador, you are then able to start applying to receive for free, test, and review some awesome products that you can feel good about giving to your family. In the community you can also participate in quests based on the sample applications and learn more about the products and earn some points for momsmeet.com. With your points you are able to redeem them for some goodies, occasionally they have surprise sample boxes available to redeem but I have not yet been lucky enough to catch them at the right time. Other than that I feel the prizes are pretty generic and are stuff I could print off of google myself so I do not want to redeem my points for those items. They just announced the implementation of badges, which I am super excited about. They have been mentioning badges for a while but it just started up where you can receive badges for completing quests, completing sample missions, joining in discussions, and more. I love the badges because it gives you a fun way to visually track your progress and remind you of the awesome sample meetings you have gotten to host. I also love that they offer coupons or discount codes for the products that they are featuring, I already saved 10% on trash bags from Amazon thanks to one of these codes for HippoSaks. Definitely checkout momsmeet.com to start contributing with other mamas and to have your chance at some great free items.
I was selected by Moms Meet to test Beyond Meat Plant Based Burger Patties for free with my group in exchange for posting to my social media outlets and sharing about our experience on the Moms meet website. Thanks to the product locator on their website, I was able to find these burger patties at my local King Soopers store in the meat department next to the ground beef. They come in packages with 2 patties per package so I purchased 2 packages; I then had 4 burger patties that I cut up smaller so that each guest could get a taste. These burgers are plant based burgers that incredibly similar to a regular beef burger in both taste and consistency.
In the sample pack we received:
- 1 Grill Spatula
- 2 informational booklets on the burgers
- 7 coupons for a free package of Beyond Burgers
- Many coupons for Buy One, Get One Free of the packs of burgers.
They were a little strange when it came to cooking them, the package says to put your grill on medium-high to high heat then cook each side for 3 minutes, it says that the “burger” may still be pink in the middle but not to overcook. This was a little strange for me because I typically like my beef with no pink inside but I followed the instructions and just kept reminding myself that this was all plant based but colored pink, it was not actually raw meat. I also had to reassure some of the guests who said “are you sure that is cooked?”
As far as the taste, they tasted pretty much exactly like an actual beef burger, and if it were not for the color and having told everyone, I think they would have just thought they were regular burgers. My son didn’t notice at all and asked for another burger about an hour after the party. As for my mom who is always trying to diet, she loved these. I often do burger night at home and I am thinking that these will be a great alternative for her on those nights so that she is still getting the same meal as everyone else but hers will be a bit healthier for her. My husband also liked these, he ate his whole sample burger and said that “if you just don’t think about it, it tastes just like a burger.” I do not think that I would purchase these for the whole family mostly due to my preferences but will be purchasing more for my mom going forward. I know in the past my mom has tried to eat the Boca Burgers, and the Morningstar Farms frozen plant burgers on many occasions and just really doesn’t like them much but these she said are completely different and taste great just like a burger so I think these are a much better option for her and others who are trying to eat plant based burgers.
