We were lucky enough to be selected by Tryazon and Gold Rush Pay Dirt to host a Gold Rush Panning Party. I definitely expected this to be a great experience but it far exceeded my expectations, this was a wonderful bonding and learning experience for everyone involved. Prior to the party I went to the Dollar Tree and picked up a green table cloth and some green and yellow streamers that we hung on the ceiling that helped to set the mood for the party. We also picked up some buckets that happened to be perfect size, they We held our party the evening of Friday October 13th to watch the season premier of Gold Rush on Discovery Channel.
Having the show on was great to start out watching and then to have in the background to keep people entertained and to help teach the kids what we were doing. It was a great connecting experience to explain that what they are going with that heavy machinery is the same thing that we are doing, and that we are doing it the way that people first learned how to do long ago during the Gold Rush years that we all hear about through Colorado and California.
Everyone loved the party from kids to adults, it was a learning experience for everyone. We all took our turns trying to pan out the dirt then hunting for the gold. I felt that it was great for the kids to learn about the gold panning experience but also to get a social learning experience with learning to share the panning process and to share the gold that was found.
I had read some reviews that complained about the amount of gold that was found in the Pay Dirt but in my opinion this was not about getting rich off of the gold, I would not have expected that to happen. I feel we did become richer though from the experience, it was heartwarming to see everyone gather around to watch and participate in the process. It was an experience that myself, my family, and the other guests will treasure forever. The panning materials were of great quality so I am excited to keep them safe and order some more bags of sand to do more panning at home and possibly hold more parties in the future, I know a number of people that would like to participate in another party after seeing the fun we had with this one. My son also thought we could take the pan down to the streams while dad is fishing and see what we can find, I think it is a great idea thanks to the durability of the pan. We cannot wait to try this again, my son has asked almost every night if we could try again, since we first did it.

Both kids and adults were super excited to take a mini panning kit home with them to try again later and the boys loved the trucker hats and other goodies. I was super happy because the key chains happened to be the style that I collect that have the spinning piece in the middle. I am thrilled to add this to my collection so that I have a great reminder of what a fabulous experience we had with the panning. #Tryazon #GoldRush
