Support your right to Know - Cleaning Products

I found all of the information on the Seventh Generation site very sad concerning the ingredients in cleaning products.  They say that studies have found that individuals who are employed in professions where they are exposed to cleaning chemicals have a higher rate of suffering from an array of ailments.  Not only the workers suffer more but also the children, especially children that were carried while the mother was employed in such a profession.  I find this incredibly saddening, the ladies that clean the restrooms at my office are nice ladies and I would hate to think that their life will be affected in a negative way just because of the products that must be used to clean up after us.  It just doesn't seem right.  I think the most important think would be to push for these cleaner products in corporate distribution.  The average consumer is able to read the label and choose but the employee must take what is handed to them and for all practical purposes cannot complain about the ingredients.

I definitely support the right to now what ingredients are in our products

Stand up for accurate labeling - protect your sensitive areas

I had no idea that there was not a requirement to disclose what ingredients are included in the sanitary products that myself and my sister use.  In fact it is not something that I had ever really thought about at all but after reading this information, it definitely makes sense that there should be some rules around this.  Thankfully, Seventh Generation announces that Representative Grace Meng has introduced the Menstrual Right to Know Act to stand up for women to have knowledge of what we put in our sensitive spots.

They discuss that the Vagina is basically a super absorber and can intake drugs and chemicals directly into the blood stream without being metabolized first.  I guess I sort of knew this, I remember the rumors in college of girls who would soak tampons in alcohol to get drunk faster but I guess I just always thought that was an extra crazy and never thought much more about it to the point of thinking what chemicals I may be putting around that area with my very normal sanitary product use.

I think I will start paying a little more attention to what I purchase next month and following the progress on the Menstrual Right to Know Act as it continues through the process.

King Soopers Friday Freebie August 25th

This week we picked up the latest King Soopers Friday Freebie.  For August 25th the item was a box of Annie's pasta.  I chose the Shells & White Cheddar because my family likes to have this one as a side dish with dinner.

My understanding is that all Kroger affiliated stores offer a Friday Freebie, you just need to sign up for the loyalty program and every Friday remember to load your coupon for a free item.
Also, I often receive "Best Customer Bonus" coupons that often include an additional Freebie item.  This month I received two best customer bonus coupons for free items, for a box of Keebler Club Crackers, and another for a can of Vegetables.

Kmart Friday Fix - August 25th

This week we picked up our first Friday Fix item from Kmart.  I just found out that Kmart offers a free item every Friday for ShopYourWay Rewards members and you must download the coupon on the app.  It is free to sign up for an account so head on over to kmart.com and check it out.  The Friday fix for August 25th was a Smart Sense air freshener.  You could pick between either Apple Cinnamon of Lavender scent, I choose Apple Cinnamon because I felt that it smelled better overall and also I thought it would be nice for the bathroom as fall is creeping up.
